Welcome to the NZU21s NWYC2017 Hub!

Netball World Youth Cup Gaborone 2017 will be held July 8-16 , 2017. Our NZU21s are the defending champions, having defeated Australia in the final in 2013. We look forward to bringing you news from NWYC2017 including match reports, results and more on the road to Botswana! PLUS, make sure you keep an eye on the Netball New Zealand social channels for extra insights throughout the tournament direct from the team.

History

2013

NZU21s win Netball World Youth Cup 2013, defeating Australia 52-47. The event was held in Glasgow, Scotland, Janine Southby was the coach and Storm Purvis the captain.


2009

NZU21s finish second at Netball World Youth Cup 2009, losing to Australia in the Final 64-46. The event was held in Rarotonga, Cook Islands, Yvette McCausland-Durie was the coach and Paula Griffin the captain.


2005

NZU21s win Netball World Youth Cup 2005, defeating England in the Final 53-39. The event was held in Fort Lauderdale, USA. Te Aroha Keenan was the coach and Laura Langman was the captain.


2000

NZU21s finish third at Netball World Youth Cup 2000. They defeated England in the Bronze Medal Match, 63-47. The event was held in Cardiff, Wales. Georgina Salter was the coach and Adine Wilson (nee Harper) was the captain.


1996

NZU21s finish second at Netball World Youth Cup 1996, losing to Australia 62-58. The event was held in Toronto, Canada. Tracey Fear and Te Aroha Keenan were co-coaches, with Bernice Mene the captain.


1992

NZU21s win Netball World Youth Cup 1992, defeating Australia 44-40. The event was held in Suva, Fiji. Leigh Gibbs and Georgina Salter were co-coaches, with Julie Dawson the captain.


1988

NZU21s finish third at Netball World Youth Cup 1988 – Australia won. This was the first time the event was held, with teams travelling to Canberra, Australia to participate. Yvonne Willering was the coach with Ana Noovao the captain.
