Missing from recent clashes, towering shooter Junior Levi will captain the New Zealand Men to play Australia in a Labour Weekend spectacle at Spark Arena in Auckland on October 23.
The men’s three-match trans-Tasman Cup series will be played as curtain-raisers for this year’s Constellation Cup series between the Silver Ferns and Australian Diamonds.
The men’s series has proved a popular drawcard in recent years and offers a blockbuster Labour Monday in Auckland which will combine a tantalising double-header featuring the best of elite level men’s and women’s trans-Tasman netball.
Both series will conclude in Auckland with the men playing the first two games of their series in Melbourne and Brisbane before heading to Auckland.
With 15 Test caps, the 2.18m Levi is the most experienced international across both men’s teams and will spearhead New Zealand’s challenge. He will receive strong support from the multi-talented Jake Schuster, 11 caps, who can play across all positions at the defensive end as well as centre, and well-performed midcourter Nick Grimmer, who has seven caps.
The Australian Kelpies have experience in all areas of the court through shooters Jerome Gillbard and Brodie Roberts, attacker Eugene Lee, midcourter Dylan McPherson and defender Alastair Punshon.
The NZ Men, who will be coached by Dion Te Whetu, are excited by the return of the trans-Tasman Cup and the opportunity to continue the on-court challenge against their greatest rivals.
