Netball World Youth Cup 2021 headed to Fiji

Earlier today, the International Netball Federation (INF) announced that Netball Fiji has won the rights to host Netball World Youth Cup 2021 (NWYC2021).

The event will be played at Vodafone Arena in Suva – the venue that held the recent International Youth Netball Series, and Pacific Games.

INF President, the Hon. Molly Rhone, OJ, CD, says she is delighted to award hosting rights to Netball Fiji.

“We considered two excellent applications from Netball Fiji and Netball Samoa. It was a tough decision but Fiji’s bid was particularly strong, demonstrating a good state of readiness and real potential as host nation for our flagship youth event,” Rhone said.

“We have every confidence that Netball Fiji will deliver a thrilling world class event and are grateful to the Government of Fiji for their strong support.”

Netball Fiji President, Wainikiti Bogidrau, says it is an honour to be chosen.

“Being awarded the rights to host NWYC2021 is indeed an honour and we appreciate all the countries and organisations that supported us in our bid inclusive of the Government of Fiji and the Fiji National Sports Commission,” Bogidrau said.

“We look forward to hosting the international Netball community in Suva in 2021 to showcase what our country and capital city has to offer as a sporting destination.”

The NZU21 team is the current world champions in this age group, having won the title in 2013. They will defend their title in Gaborone, Botswana, in July this year.
