Netball NZ Zone Umpire Watchlist named

Netball New Zealand has confirmed a Zone watchlist of 12 umpires and four umpire coaches who have been identified as future top performers.

The group includes eight umpires who have been part of Netball NZ’s pathway over the past three years, along with four selected for the first time.

The umpires will be joined by four nominated umpire coaches at the National Development Camp in Auckland from 16-19 January, 2020.

During the camp umpires will be fitness tested, develop performance plans and undergo physical screening, as well as umpiring games.

The purpose of the Zone Watchlist is to identify and develop umpiring and umpire coaching talent at Zone level who have the potential to operate in a high performance environment within the next three to five years.

”We are excited with the talent in our Zone Watchlist and have a great balance of umpires experienced in the programme and exciting new talent coming through,” National Technical Officials Manager Garratt Williamson said.

“We look forward to working with our umpires at National Development Camp in January and will provide opportunities for them to attend tournaments to build on their skills and experience.”
